Breaking the Cycle—Addressing Housing, Economic Security, and Self-Efficacy of Survivors of Gender-based Violence
April 8, 2021 @ 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm
The virtual community event will be hosted on April 8th, 2021, from 2 pm to 5 pm (see flyer attached). The event will feature four Kansas/Colorado-based non-profit organizations that provide housing and on-site employment to women survivors of domestic violence, sex trafficking, and formerly incarcerated. As the event coordinator, I want to invite the faculty and staff to join the other four organizations and engage in conversations on how to provide sustainable support to women survivors.
The virtual community event will be taken place via Zoom and be free of charge. During the workshop, the four organizations will introduce ways to provide both employment and residential assistance to survivors, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the end, community stakeholders and audiences will participate in the discussion and propose ideas to provide sustainable support through job training, employment, and safe housing to help survivors regain control of their lives in Hays, KS, and beyond. In return, the community will heal from trauma and arise to be “a hub of hope.”
