PowerPoint now has powerful features that instructors can use in teaching or students can use in teaching others. The screen recording feature is a poor man’s Camtasia. The Zoom feature replaces the linear presentation style with a much more dynamic Prezi-like presentation style. Skilled presenters can use custom animations to illustrate their message. The animations are easy to create using PowerPoint functions. Creative use of screen capture allows instructors to include a mind-map, a drawing from CAD software, a map created with GIS software, a document or image created with Adobe, or more artistic creations from other software packages. The charting function in PowerPoint now closely resembles the Excel charting tools. The design functions in PowerPoint also enhances the message. I will demonstrate selected uses of these features.
