TILT 301: Perspectives for the Online Teaching Professional

Teaching Innovations and Learning Technologies offers three courses for faculty. These courses focus on the concepts unique to teaching online courses. Faculty enrolled in the course see the student side of Blackboard or Blackboard Ultra while completing six modules covering topics related to teaching online courses. Foundations of Online Teaching (TILT 101) begins September 3 and concludes October 13; Advanced Concepts of Online Teaching (TILT 201) begins September 16 and concludes October 27. The final course is Perspectives for the Online Teaching Professional (TILT 301). This course is designed for faculty who have completed the first two courses or have taught for six or more years as an adjunct at FHSU.** It opens September 30 and concludes November 10.

**Adjunct faculty who complete the courses are eligible for a pay increase if not already at the maximum pay tier. If faculty completed Foundations of Online Teaching, at least one year since completion of the course is required before enrollment in Advanced Concepts of Online Teaching is possible. If faculty completed Advanced Concepts of Online Teaching, at least one year since completion of the course is required before enrollment in Perspectives for the Online Teaching Professional is possible.

TILT 101: Foundations of Online Teaching

TILT 101 is designed for new adjuncts who have taught less than three years at FHSU. The four mandatory topics covered include teaching perspectives, student retention & persistence, student success & accessibility, and FHSU culture. Participants choose optional content from topics like media richness, LDAP, academic misconduct, blackboard basics, and writing sound test questions.
Course Dates: September 3, 2024 – October 13, 2024

TILT 201: Advanced Concepts of Online Teaching

TILT 201 is designed for adjuncts who have completed TILT 101 or have taught four or more years for FHSU. The four mandatory topics covered include teaching online students, FHSU culture, rubrics, and student success & accessibility. Participants choose optional content from topics like adult learner theory, flipped classrooms, active learning, minimalist instructional design, mind/concept maps, anticipatory sets, and writing sound test questions. Enrollment in Advanced Concepts of Online Teaching must be no earlier than a one-year minimum after completing Foundations of Online Teaching.

TILT 301: Perspectives of the Online Teaching Professional

TILT 301 is designed for adjuncts who have completed TILT 201 or have taught six or more years for FHSU. Topics covered include online student engagement, Blackboard Ultra, research using FHSU Forsyth Library, and Learning Technology Integrations as well as others.
