The Faculty Guide to the Digital Master Plan

Message from Provost Jill Arensdorf: The Digital Master Plan represents a strategic framework for advancing FHSU’s academic mission in the digital age.  Thank you to everyone who took part in creating this plan and sharing feedback over the last few months.  You might be asking, what is next?  How do we operationalize this at FHSU?  This post features some opportunities to engage in and operationalize the digital master plan work at FHSU.

The faculty guide serves as your entry point, highlighting the key areas where your teaching expertise intersects with and supports our digital transformation efforts.  Take it in and ask questions!

Are you interested in experimenting as a faculty champion?  Linked here is a Call for FHSU Digital Teaching Champions.  In collaboration with TILT, I am seeking faculty to lead experiments and share those experiments with others at FHSU.  This is a creative way to engage and share your work – and features remuneration.

All of this work aligns with the three academic affairs priorities this year around results, community, and data acumen development.

  1. Unifying around a Results-Oriented Culture: The guide emphasizes using Blackboard Ultra’s analytics to provide actionable insights into student progress, enabling data-driven decisions to enhance student success. It highlights the DigCompEdu framework to improve teaching practices, focusing on measurable outcomes.
  2. Building community within and outside the University: It promotes building student connections through structured engagement opportunities and developing learning communities, fostering a sense of community among students and faculty.
  3. Developing strong data acumen: The guide outlines the use of Ultra’s integrated analytics to inform teaching decisions, helping faculty develop strong data acumen by providing insights into student engagement and learning patterns.

Together, these initiatives underscore our commitment to academic excellence and student success. I encourage you to explore these resources, engage with your colleagues, and consider how you can contribute to our shared vision of a dynamic and inclusive educational environment.

Thank you for your dedication and leadership in advancing FHSU’s academic mission.

Jill Arensdorf, Ph.D.
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
