TILT offers three, self-paced trainings for adjunct faculty designed to provide FHSU faculty with skills in technology and online teaching in an immediately applicable and customizable format. Both courses run six weeks each and require department chair approval. No textbook is required; all materials are posted to Blackboard where the adjunct instructor uses the student side to navigate the course.
TILT 101: Foundations of Online Teaching is designed for new adjuncts who have taught less than three years at FHSU. The four mandatory topics covered include teaching perspectives, student retention & persistence, student success & accessibility, and FHSU culture. Participants choose optional content from topics like media richness, LDAP, academic misconduct, blackboard basics, and writing sound test questions.
TILT 201: Advanced Concepts of Online Teaching is designed for adjuncts who have completed TILT 101 or have taught four or more years for FHSU. The four mandatory topics covered include teaching online students, FHSU culture, rubrics, and student success & accessibility. Participants choose optional content from topics like adult learner theory, flipped classrooms, active learning, minimalist instructional design, mind/concept maps, anticipatory sets, and writing sound test questions.
Adjuncts who complete courses are eligible for a pay increase of up to $200/class, beginning the semester after completing the course. (Maximum adjunct pay cap of $3,095/3-credit-hour class remains in effect.) Enrollment in Advanced Concepts of Online Teaching must be no earlier than a one-year minimum after completing Foundations of Online Teaching.

TILT 301: Perspectives of the Online Teaching Professional is designed for adjuncts who have completed TILT 201 or have taught six or more years for FHSU. Topics covered include online student engagement, Blackboard Ultra, research using FHSU Forsyth Library, and Learning Technology Integrations as well as others.
Adjuncts who complete the course will earn a pay increase beginning the semester after course completion. (Pay increase not to exceed maximum adjunct pay.)
