Course Design
Our instructional design team coordinates and oversees the design and development of online and blended/hybrid courses, in partnership with faculty as course developers. A systematic process is followed in order to design and develop high-quality, engaging learning experiences based on instructional design principles and research related to best practices in teaching. The submission deadlines for each of the three pathways below are February 15th, May 15th, and September 15th. Applicants will be notified of approval once Academic Council makes that determination.
Select Your Pathway Below:
Pathway I
For courses that:
- A course that has not been previously developed for online or blended delivery.
- Does not predominantly consist of packaged content from commercial publishers (e.g., homework management platforms, preprogrammed lab activities).
Pathway II
For courses that:
- A course that is 3 years or older and/or has 50% or more content changed to be eligible for redevelopment.
- Changes may include modifications to delivery method, course content, or adding new lectures.
- The 50% of new content must not primarily come from commercial publishers (e.g., homework management platforms, preprogrammed lab activities).
Z-course Design
For courses that:
- The Z-course proposal must be approved by the OER committee.
- The OER committee and the course developer will determine whether the Z-course proceeds with the development process.
