Want to see AI in action? We put it to the test by asking it to turn our dense master plans into easy-listening podcasts. The results were eye-opening. Like a skilled translator, the AI transformed pages of complex planning documents into engaging audio stories anyone can follow. This podcast was created by uploading the FHSU Campus Master Plan into Google’s NotebookLM. NotebookLM is an AI-powered research and writing assistant that can analyze uploaded documents and create FAQs, TimeLines, Briefing documents and, yes, even podcasts that simulate two-person conversations centered around specific topics.
But here’s the catch – while these AI-created podcasts get the big picture right, they sometimes miss important details or oversimplify key points. Think of them as movie trailers: great for getting you interested, but you wouldn’t want to skip the full feature. The real meat of our plans – the crucial details that shape our community’s future – can only be found in the complete documents. So, while these AI podcasts are an exciting new way to explore our plans, they’re just the beginning of the conversation, not the whole story.
